THE BLESSING
The man who was downtrodden in squalor
Wretched sordid and poor,
Is now feasting in plenteous wealth with kings.
This is the power of the blessing.
The prostitute who sold her body with reckless abandon,
Just to see the light of another dawn,
Now crusades for women to be chaste with relentless passion.
This is what the blessing has done.
The child whose body was once racked with unimaginable pain,
Is now effervescent with joy that words cannot explain,
The weak is now strong, the afflicted is now free.
This is how powerful the blessing can be.
Fifteen years of being unloved, rejected and abused,
Left her severely and hopelessly bruised.
Only the love of God could heal her broken soul.
This is how the blessing can make whole.
Life’s riches only succeeded to strengthen the hunger in his heart,
The question “Why am I alive?” left him groping in the dark,
The lost has finally found the essence of life.
The blessing has delivered him from merely existing to being alive.
It was a lose and lose situation,
He had never been on the brink of utter confusion,
As he tarried in God’s Presence, he suddenly knew what to do.
A blessed man doesn’t stumble.
It is Heaven’s most precious treasure,
It enriches men beyond measure,
A man with the blessing but with nothing has everything.
Blessed are those who greatly esteem the blessing above all things.
