WEEKDAY CHURCH SERVICES

My experience has been, in Washington, D.C., that few churches have weekday Bible Study or prayer services. I am grateful for the churches that do conduct such services. Three of the churches that I attended for weekday services have excellent Bible teaching. It is a spiritual help to learn, and to be invited to participate in the lessons. The Bible is the authority where I attended those weekdays.

The weekday studies and prayer are quite beneficial to the elderly, and the physically challenged, in particular, because many of them are not inclined to be out at night. It gives them a spiritual refuge to worship, serve, and learn more about our Father God in fellowship with other saints.

I understand that budgetary constraints may be a factor as to why more churches do not conduct weekday services. God gives us faith to believe Him for means to do things that are so essential in our devotion to Him. He always provides when the aim is to give Him glory. We are living in times where the Devil is becoming more aggressive against the gospel because he knows that his time is shortened. Certainly, we need more assembling of ourselves in places that promote God as first love. The body of Christ needs to be more aggressive in submission to God, and resistance of the Devil!!!

There are enough dull church programs with minimal love flowing, dead prayers, dry bones “worship,” carnal attitudes, weak singing, and selfishness. What our Lord expects is robust love in actions; Bible based prayers, true worship, spiritual attitudes, enthusiastic singing, and cheerful giving. Psalm 63:8 says, “My soul followeth hard after thee:...” Our Lord expects nothing less – that is what He receives, as a constant, from true worshippers.

When I lived in a homeless shelter, the Lord led me to two churches that were open nearly every weekday, except holidays. When they were not in service mode, people could just come in and sit to pray, read the Bible, and commune quietly with the Lord. It did me much good to be able to find a peaceful place to be with the Lord (for those who do not know, shelters can be very noisy).

Some months ago, I read about a church in New York City near Wall Street that has noon day services on weekdays. It was mentioned that during this climate of economic uncertainly, more people were in attendance at the lunch time services. What a great practice - for workers to go to church for lunch period! Of course, church attendance is not sufficient of itself, for many though, it is a good start.
If the church leadership and enough parishioners are in the flow of the anointing of God, yokes can be destroyed. Imagine masses of people walking in sanctuaries, and being changed by the anointing of God that abides within His places of worship. Hallelujah for weekday lunchtime salvation! I am glad for anytime salvation but due time has come for more Holy Ghost movement in weekday services.

Also, weekday services can be of help to those who work night jobs, and are not able to attend night time Bible studies and prayer services.

I believe that, ideally, healings can increasingly happen at weekday services - not only healings but deliverances, new revelations, greater Bible understanding, and deeper levels in our Lord. My prayer is that more concentration be placed on weekday worship in churches to supplement what has long been a practice reserved for weeknights.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, let Your Holy Ghost fire fall on us in ways that we will be anointed to shift gears to win more souls. Let us be about transmission of Your full gospel to impact the desolate. Let us be spiritually energized to charge weak hearts. Let us re-fuel with premium level holy fruits. Let us drink plentifully of the sweet juices of blessed communion, and fellowship with You. Let us purpose to love one another, our neighbors, strangers, and our enemies. Let us remain mindful to do love. Let us continue to accelerate, and remove our feet from the brakes that hinder and prevent us from operating at high-octane levels in Your glorious name. Let us be anointed news makers who are driven to turn this world upside down (The Acts 17:6)!

Deliver us, dear Father, from ourselves, from any levels of foolishness, unbelief, rebellion against You, and precious Lord, deliver us from all that is contrary to Your sound doctrine, according to the infallible Word.
