How do we gain the love of One To fill the heart's deep plea? The difference...so subtle, But mighty the reward, For flesh can never pay the price, God's love we can't afford. In humility we must accept What we can never earn, For righteous acts can't bridge the gap, The love for which we yearn. So we must focus on the One Who died our debt to pay, For only by His sacrifice Will bondage flee away. And once we know we're truly loved No matter what we do, We reach out to embrace the One Whose power brought us through. "Have-to's" become "want-to's", We simply please not earn, For held securely in His love The pow'r to please we learn.
