Sunday 1/24/10 Pastor Alex’s sermon: This is a Test!! James 1:2-8
Last week someone broke in and stole the church safe and took God’s tithes/offerings. God will always provide and we must celebrate because we must be
DOING SOMETHING RIGHT cause the enemy is trying to stop us! Whenever Satan tries to harm us, God will use it for our good.
1) Thru the trials, we have an opportunity for Growth: James 1:2-8
The testing of our faith produces patience. God gives to All liberally the wisdom we ask for. Ask in Faith, doubting nothing but believe. The Lord will take something negative that happens to us and use it positively. We don’t need to be afraid or angry but let the negative be a opportunity for growth. Have expectations for God to take us and grow us further into His plan. In the midst of the trial we can grow as individuals and as a church.
2) Testing exposes our Heart:
We can ask like David asked God, to examine our heart and show us our condition. Our heart has a filtering system and we need it to filter out the crud and junk of life. We need to filter stuff and look at life’s trials thru the eyes of God. We filter life thru God and if anything is coming out of us that doesn’t look like Jesus, then our filter is out of wack. We need God to fix our filtering system. Testing exposes our heart and lets us see our filtering system at work.
3) Patience produces an effective filtering system:
We endure, we persevere when junk happens. We don’t fly off the handle and don’t make quick decisions. We have faith and ask in faith. The testing of our faith works patience. We must allow the trials to fix us and our filtering system.
Faith worketh Patience. Ask in faith and don’t waver. Ask for wisdom and God will give it in abundance…liberally. God gives us wisdom to handle life!! Be joyful when “stuff” happens cause you know God is about to do something big to make us more like Him. It’s a test that makes us grow. Have faith that God is going to do something and have faith that God will give us wisdom. Wisdom to be more like God!! We must let God take care of us and work something good out of our trials and tests.
