March 29, 2009
One lovely Sunday
The sun shining so bright
Some dear people
Met a terrible plight
T'was about noon
The news reached my ears
The voice on the phone
Multiplied my fears
A wreck, he said
Here in Caddo Mills
My throat tightened
As if filled with pills
They hit a bridge
Two people were hurt bad
I got weak in the knees
It was Mother and Dad
Fear began to mount
As the kind man talked on
In my troubled mind
I could hear them all groan
The baby is all right
So is the other young lad
But you had better rush
To see your Mother and Dad
I reached my folks
At 2:30 pm.
The tears in my eyes
Made everything dim.
The sight I saw
As I stepped in Mother's room
Will be locked in my mind
Forevermore
In the next room
My dad lay in bed
Two broken ribs
And a pain in his head.
Little brother, too
In the bed next to Dad
Had a broken nose
But not hurt bad.
Mother had us worried
As she lay there so still
Nothing we could do
But wait on God's will
Day and night vigil
We began to keep
Praying constantly
For one whole week
Improvement then
We began to see
In time the doc said
Like new, she will be
So now we wait
Thanks to God above
For returning to us
One we all love.
