" Would you like a cup of coffee?" Detective Springer asked Charles as he sat down next to his desk.
" Yes, thank you" he replied as he looked around the busyness of the squad room.
" Sugar, cream or black".
" Black is fine" Charles replied with a grateful smile as the Detective handed him a mug and then sat down.
" Mr Brown, what you found is typical of a ransom note".
" What do you mean typical?".
" Whoever wrote it is demanding a million dollars for the safe return of your daughter" he said as he stared at Charles. " One thing that is different than most is he cut out letters so his handwriting would not be detected".
Charles drank the coffee and contemplated the note.
