What is this journey we are on
That starts at the cross of Calvary
Where a Man shed His precious blood
Flowing from Him, a cleansing flood
Who is it that asks us
To turn away from sin
Who is it that dies on a tree
Out of love for you and me
He said He was the Son of God
Yet people despised and rejected Him
When given a choice they chose a murderer
Sending to the cross our Saviour
Why would He choose to die
When people treated Him thus?
Why let His precious blood flow
When the world would reject Him so
Why die in such agony
Why would He pay the price
Why take the place of you and me
Why would He set us free
He is God’s own dear Son
He committed no sin or crime
But He had to die said the prophets of old
Be the willing sacrifice as foretold
His atoning blood cleanses us
With His death we are set free
But He not only dies but lives once more
Opening for us heaven’s door
So what is this journey we are on?
It is a journey of faith
The first step starts at Calvary
Where by His blood we are His for eternity
