Remain in Christ so that He will Remain in You
Remain in Christ so that He Will Remain in You
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
The old has gone, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17
I could never understand why I would continually fall into the same sin over and over if I were in fact a Christian. I thought being a Christian meant those bad habits and desires would just become not so desirable anymore. Unfortunately that is not the case. I have only recently come to realize that we must not only accept the spirit of God within us, but we must also walk in that spirit everyday. We do this by remaining in his word; otherwise we set ourselves up for failure; not God’s failure but ours. Jesus promises to remain in us if we remain in him, but how can we remain in him if we refuse to study his word? He is the Word!
I have made a conscious decision to put myself in his word everyday, and that persistence is paying off. God’s word is good. He promises to give unto those who believe the fruit of his spirit. I’m kinder, gentler, more humble, and that’s only six of the nine. I never even knew what the fruit of his spirit was until I put myself daily in his word. I wake up feeling grateful, and the day has not even begun. I’m amazed at the peace I possess despite the chaos that surrounds me. In his word we find wisdom and understanding, and in his Word is the only place we will find true fulfillment.
Only “In Christ” am I a new creation. That means being In His Word everyday, so that the “Old” does not return, and that the “New” remains!
