Wrong Way Clara
Direction giving is one area of life that I'd have to be classified in as being “challenged.” This is a fair assessment when you need to feel for your wedding ring to make sure which hand is your left. As I motor from one place to another my problems are few in reaching my destination since I know where I want to go and how to get there.
Even on long trips, as long as I have Route numbers and know whether I need to go North, South, East, or West, arrival at wherever I’m headed, is usually painless. My problems arise when someone else asks me how to get somewhere. Even if I have been there thousands of times my mind freezes. Road names become
non-existent and even my wedding ring can't guide my lefts and rights correctly. Praise the Lord that God’s direction is perfect.
Before salvation graced my soul, life drifted by in a worldly whiz. The meaning of existence escaped my mind if the thought even crossed it. Pleasures of the body and money in the bank, which flew away as fast as it entered, were the entire focus of what life was all about. Little by little dissatisfaction began to creep into my mind, but never, in my wildest dreams, did I think God could play a role in my life.
Then one Super Bowl Sunday, as I flipped from one channel to the next,I came across a television preacher. My thumb stopped its up and down motion and something about the speaker caught my attention. The next thing I knew my head I bowed and asked Jesus Christ to be my personal Savior.
Talk about somebody giving directions! It didn’t take Christ long to begin directing me to the right path and away from the wrong one. At first I tried to keep my new faith a secret from my husband, but Christ would have none of that. Instead He encouraged me share what he had done for me with others.
Needless to say what I did was bang my husband, children, brother, sisters and anybody else that came near over the head with my Bible. Christ had to step in and again direct me down the correct avenue. Life has changed so much in these last thirteen years that even I don’t recognize the person who walked on this earth before January 1991.
Growth continues on a daily basis but so does sin and without Christ’s continual direction and guidance my life would quickly disintegrate into what it was before. Psalm 31:3 declares, “For thou art my rock and my fortress therefore for thy name’s sake lead, and guide me. And again in Psalm 32:8 Jesus says, “I will instruct thee in the way, which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Oh reader let Him direct you today. If you know Him as Savior listen to His never-ending guidance. If He's directed you to this article and you don’t know Him as Savior pay attention He's trying to speak to your heart. Listen to His directions, stay in the right lane and don’t try to pass Him by.
If you insist on going your own way, you'll turn down the wrong road and end up going in circles in a search for the truth. He is the truth. He is the meaning of life. Snatch his nail-scarred hand and let His gentle touch direct the rest of your life. The directions He gives will always lead you down the right path.
