I saw a light, coming down from heaven
and then shone brightly all around my life
I saw a river of sin and iniquity, flowing
mile after mile of transgression and strife
I saw a heart, blackened with evil deeds
a soul heavily burdened with painful woe
I saw bars comprised, of sinful decisions
leaving that soul with no safe place to go
I saw stars, pointing to each hidden flaw
every last sin that I thought to be hidden
They stood out in that heavenly spotlight
all the wicked things, God had forbidden
As that light of truth move much nearer
I saw a person, I no longer wanted to be
I knew the deceitfulness, it was revealing
would one day be, the destruction of me
I walked on as the light focused in on me
ignoring the sign, that I needed to repent
I wanted the light to fade…. just go away
forgetting from whence, it had been sent
It never faded…. it grew brighter instead
it burned my heart, through and through
I felt a fire that just couldn’t be quenched
God fanned the flames, it grew and grew
Now his light shines before my tired feet
and shines brightly, on the way I must go
I bask in it’s soft glow, as onward I travel
seeking God’s holy guidance, here below
