Elijah, Please Scoot Over
Elijah, please scoot over
I want to share your tree,
I too just want to run away,
From troubles I would flee.
Caving in around me,
My problems piled high,
I feel I've simply had enough
And wish that I could die.
I cannot handle any more,
Dear Lord, my plate is full,
Just let me die right here and now,
Of troubles I'm chock-full.
Drowning in self-pity
I fail to understand,
It doesn't take a miracle
To know I'm in God's hand.
So tenderly He whispers,
"What are you doing here?
Have I not shown you in the past
You have no cause to fear?"
And once again I am renewed,
I in His presence bask,
In Him my spirit is restored,
There's strength if I but ask.
For there is more in store for me,
His work I must not shun,
For all that He assigns to me,
His strength for what needs done.
I Kings 19:1-18
