That day changed lives for days to come
And the multitudes gathered and more came
Each had their reasons for wanting to be there
They were saddened when they saw My pain.
Uncertainty filled minds of those who watched
As I looked down from the cross on the hill
I was crucified by those who did not believe
And so it happened but it was God’s will.
I remember the pain of the constant beatings
I wanted to cry out when the nails pierced My skin
Tears ran down my face but I made no sound
I suffered greatly but paid for man’s sin.
Not one thought of anger entered My mind
I am not one who would cast any blame
The sight of my blood disturbed those who watched
And they looked down at the ground in shame.
The rain from dark clouds gently hit My brow
I could see the world drowning in sin
I felt the tears of many dying souls
I wanted to reach out and take them all in.
I looked towards the heavens with closed eyes
And I spoke to my Father in prayer
I asked for the forgiveness of all man’s sins
For the punishment only I would bear.
