Within this aging body
lies a soul that's young at heart!
In spite of many aches and pains,
They don't seem to be a part.
For what you see on the outside
Is really quite superficial.
The heart that lies within
Is far from artificial.
The child that once lived in this body,
has been tempered with age.
The teenager that once was there,
Has just moved to a different stage.
It's these stages of life
Which I'd like you to see;
Please remember this,
When you look at me.
Remember,I've been on a long road
Which has led me up to here;
And I fully understand
The things that you hold dear.
So, don't look at what age has wrought,
Nor the mistakes this life has done.
Look at the person who lives inside,
The many battles won!
Christ has been my Shepherd,
Though I've stumbled on life's road.
My desire is for you to join me,
When heaven is my abode!
