Psalm 64 was about being back out in the world with the protection of our new armor. We are sustained by the truth though we may be surrounded by lies because they bring about their own destruction due to their weak nature. The power and range of God's truth extends like a radiant light beyond the borders of his heavenly city; a light that gives life to all his creation.
65. The Gardens of the Temple
Praise waits for You, O God, in your temple; unto You the vow will be made.
You, who hear our prayers, to You shall all life come.
Injustice may wear me down, but as for my sins, You shall purge them away.
Blest is the man that You choose to seek after You, he will live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.
Your terrible righteousness will be our answer, O God of our salvation,
Your strength holds to the ends of the earth, and is a guide to those who are far away.
Your power has set the mountains in their place,
You still the noise of the sea, the noise of the waves and the tumult of people.
Even those who live in far away lands fear your coming,
You make the morning and the evening rejoice.
You visit the earth and water it; it is enriched by your river, the water of God.
At your command the grain is readied for your people.
You water the hills and settle the valleys,
You make the ground soft with showers and bless the fertile spring that comes.
You crown the year with your goodness and yours is the path of plenty.
The fields in the wilderness yield their bounty, and the hills on either side rejoice.
The pastures are clothed with flocks, and the fields are ripe with grain,
They sing and shout for the joy of your being.
We are out in the world, but Heaven is out here also. We are told God has a river that waters all life on earth; the hills and valleys, the fertile spring and the path of plenty. Man, beast and plants are all showered with blessings, singing our praises together and shouting always for joy. Everything we say and do is a prayer of thanks and praise. We are a part of the creation we see, its strength is our strength and what God has made will last forever. Our purpose is to be what we already are; our Fatherís creatures waiting on his pleasure. We are the pathfinders, bringing light to those who still live in darkness.
Enjoying the peace and serenity of the beautiful gardens in the courts of the temple is why they were made available to us. The knowledge and memory of that heavenly image of the river of life is our source of strength. We can go back anytime to visit and imagination of detail needs know no bounds. The reality will be so much more for what we can understand now is only a symbol of the greatness and splendor of what we will see one day.
