"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God..."
(John 1:1)
"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us....." (John 1:14)
Over 2,000 years ago this scripture was fulfilled. We set aside December 25th to remember this fact.
Did you ever notice the word "IN"....The scripture does NOT say AT the beginning nor does it say "AT THE START..." it says "IN the beginning.....think on that.
How many times have we taken the time to meditate on this scripture and thank Father God for this incredible fact. God spoke to the Virgin Mary, a teenage girl, she accepted His word and that word became flesh and dwelt among us. I wonder what our response might have been had God spoken this to one of us. That took a strong faith in what God said. Because Mary believed, you and I and the entire world has been blessed beyond our imagination through The Word of God that became flesh. His Name is JESUS.
How little we think about this while shopping, cooking and preparing for family gatherings. I am just as guilty as the next one; perhaps as I grow older things come into clearer focus. Please do not misunderstand me...there is nothing wrong with giving gifts to each other, nor is there anything wrong with all the cooking and preparations that are made to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I just think sometimes we get the priority of the season a bit off center.
For me and I understand there are many others, funds are not available to purchase gifts for others...perhaps that is a good thing since it brings the real purpose of Christmas to the center of attention. I would rather have Jesus than all of the material things available. There is a song by this title written many years ago and was frequently sung in years past, "I'd rather have Jesus than all this world could afford".
I am not wealthy financially, but spiritually I consider myself a millionaire because JESUS is my everything and all my needs are supplied by HIM. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
TO ALL THE READERS : HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW

This was a beautiful article, and very well written. We all need to stop and think of all that this one day made for anyone who will receive Him. Yes, I'd rather have Jesus than anything!
Congratulations! This has been chosen to be highlighted on the Message Boards in the Cheering Section. You can see it by clicking here: FaithWriters Jewel Chest
This is beautiful.
Too many people spend too much time worrying when they can't give or receive gifts.
As your writing states, we have the greatest gift.
When we have Jesus we have everything. No material possession can ever compare to Him. The greatest gift that any of us can give is to share the word of God with a dying world.
Well done. Thank you for sharing.
