Sunday 12/13/09 Pastor Alex sermon: Born to Die-The Christmas Story Hebrews 12:1-2
Jesus is the Messiah. He was born to die to take away the sins of the world. Before this act of love, we were or are like SCROOGE.
Christmas Past:
We are bound by our sins of the past. Bound by the CHAINS of our past. Jesus came to break the chains that hold us captive. These chains are past hurts, past pains and past mistakes. We need to accept the freedom Jesus gives us. God loves us and wants to free us from what binds us. We need to forgive ourselves and SHAKE OFF the chains.
Christmas Present:
When we come to Jesus, we need to not worry about naming the name of Jesus to our co-workers, family or friends. We need to make Jesus KING! We need to name Him OUTLOUD and don’t be quiet about the Lord. Jesus is not quiet about us when He defends us to God while satan accuses us. We need to be a leader of the cheer leading squad for Jesus! Don’t worry what people around us will say.
Hebrews 12:1-2 There are witnesses around us looking at us all the time. Jesus is the author of FAITH, so strip off every weight that holds us down.
Don’t be afraid of people thinking we may be frauds when we talk about Jesus. We have to tear down the walls we have put up around us. We need to let people see that we’ve been with God and that He loves us. When we are born again, the “old man” is gone away and the “new man” , the “new us” has come. Jesus has come to change us into what He wants us to be.
Christmas Future:
The good thing about being a Believer is that God never takes away our ability to CHOOSE. We can choose God or keep on doing what we have always done. Don’t be stiff-necked or stubborn! Listen to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Don’t be resistant. We can choose life, freedom, love with Jesus and God. FOREVER!! We choose GOD!! We choose a Godly relationship with Him.
