Sunday 12/6/09 Pastor Alex’s sermon Born to Die-The Gift of Hope Luke 2:8-14
God gave Jesus as a gift to us. God set the pattern of Christmas gift giving.
Don’t be a scrooge. Give gifts to others no matter how broke we are. We can find something to give somebody even if its just our time.
Don’t let the devil steal the spirit of Christmas gift giving that God started.
Luke 2:9-14 The Angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds and told them of the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior. vs. 15 The shepherds decided to see the baby Jesus themselves.
**Jesus brought Peace to the world
**Jesus is the All Sufficient One.
**Jesus is our Hope for Glory
**Jesus was born to die for the sins of the world
**Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life
There is a “drifting” problem we all have. We all “drift” from God. In the bible from Genesis to Revelations, the people of God “drifted”. When Moses was away on the mountain, the people “drifted” and worshipped a golden calf. When the children of Israel were finally freed from Nebuchanezzar and went back to Israel, they eventually “drifted’ from God. If people cannot touch it, smell it or feel something, they will “drift”. In Judges the people “drifted” from God by wanting a King that they could see, not the invisible, intangible God that blessed them.
We mistakenly put our hope and trust in men, in worldly systems because we can see them. God is the only one we should trust. Only God can help us, cares for us and will not let us down. In Romans the Bible says Jesus did what the Law couldn’t do. He came so that we could live a SUCCESSFUL CHRISTIAN LIFE. We no longer have to “drift”.
We now have the Holy Spirit live inside of us. The Holy Spirit can help us fight the good fight of faith. Christ is inside of us to protect and change us from the inside out. We need to celebrate Christmas because we don’t have to be alone. Instead we have the Hope.
We have JESUS CHRIST !!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
