A Pastor's Silent Cry
When I was called, ...out by God,
I said,... "yes Lord I will obey,"
I set about the task to learn,
and teach someone each day.
With a fire burning, within my heart,
I sought those who were lost,
I share with all the Love of God,
and Jesus paid the cost.
I formed a church with others who,
were also born again,
yet barly 10% would help,
much to my chagrin.
Oh, most would pay their ten percent,
of tithes, and sometimes more,
But where were they, when a call came in,
to pray at 3 or 4?
Or when the church needed chores,
to clean, or rake, or mend,
it was always those bare 10%,
who showed up as my friend.
The other 90 expected me,
to be at "beck & call,"
and if 1 out of 100 times I didn't,
I was not their Pastor at all.
I knew when I said "Yes" to God,
how hard the job would be,
but I never imagined only 10%,
would be of help to me.
I guess I thought that everyone,
desired to help and serve,
To realize 90% did not,
really threw me for a curve.
So be it, amen, I'll finish my course,
until the day I die,
Just know this verse is not complaining,
it's every pastor's silent cry.
