Psalm 1274
I wait silently for You in my troubles.
You are my expectation. He who relieves the troubled spirit.
In this trial I take this time to thank You.
Thank you for showing just how much You love me.
I would hurt much more if this trial never existed
For I would never be taught lessons I hope to learn.
In suffering I am made partners with Christ
who suffered that I may live.
In You, O Lord, I find strength to say no,
To say no to murder, to say no to stealing,
And to say no to prying into other peoples affairs.
Thank you for the gift of knowledge to know
that I need not retaliate when insulted for being a Christian,
and to know that I donít need to do to another
as they have done to me.
Thank you for the understanding to know that
Your judgment is close and that it must first begin with Your own children (1 Peter 4:17)
Thank you for the understanding to know
In all this and more, my comfort is found.
No matter what anyone says, no matter what anyone does
My comfort is what I believe and it canít be taken away from me.
So thank You, Father, thank You for Your word,
Which lets me know itís okay to suffer should it be Your will,
I gladly do so with praise.
My reward is patience.
Thank you for the gift of patience, Father.
That I may endure unkind and unreasonable people in authority.
Awaken the gift of love Youíve given me, Father,
Awaken it, should it be Your will.
I ask this in Jesusí name Amen.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come.
