Happy Holidays – Hogwash!
Happy Holidays huh? It seems to be a saying that is growing like mold upon us. Sorry for my cynical view, but when I think of where we are in America today it truly hurts my heart. As the body of Christ continuously sits back and becomes defenseless to such rhetoric what more can we expect? Someone asked me a few weeks ago, “Do you know that Obama said “America is no longer a Christian Nation?” My reply was somewhat instant and perhaps “in your face” but I said, “Just because the President of the USA says something doesn’t necessarily mean that it is true. Even our enemies know better than that.”
I think back on my childhood, being raised in a Christian country, but not a Christian home. Mama was a full blood Russian Jew and Dad was a self claimed atheist at times and at other times a Buddhist. Even with all this against me, we still said, “Merry Christmas, Happy Easter, etc.” Why? Because the core values of the country I grew up in were still somewhat moral and integral. Perfect you inquire and I instantly will say, “No.” However, we were still respectful of each other. I wrote a song many years ago called, “Christmas without Christ is Just MAS.”
Respectful of each other seems to be the agenda forced upon us now in a whole new light. Not wishing anyone Merry Christmas used to be an insult in this country. They even wrote about it in a book called, “A Christmas Carol”. In it was a character named Scrooge that later made it to the big screen. Now, for a very few minute, it seems to be an offense to say such a thing. I beseech thee as not only citizens of the United States of America, but as Christians, making us a citizen of a much HIGHER COURT, that we don’t allow others with foolish ambitions and false lips to start telling us how to live our lives, what to say, how to dress, where to go. God says, “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord!”(Psalm 33:12) There is only ONE God. Just because we have become the melting pot for the world here, does not mean we shall deem it necessary to adopt their foreign gods nor their radical beliefs. Regardless of any political agenda that seemingly wants to thwart any HIGHER COURT authority that was sought after during the founding of this NATION, we are (a) peoples, (a) peoples who by Our Creator have unalienable rights. Oh yes, there will be those who will somehow twist this into a hate crime. I see it coming. But I say to you friends, fellow servants, co-laborers of Christ, is it not a hate crime to deny us OUR rights?
Personally, I am tired of mambie - pambie Christianity that is so afraid to stand up for what we believe in. I believe the Word in Rev 3:16 calls this lukewarm Christianity. My prayer is that we will turn back to our roots, our foundation and become what God has called us to be, one nation under God. Let me remind you, as a Christian believer we seemingly are the only faith not enforcing through threat or terror our beliefs on others who will not follow. Our Great and Mighty God, came in flesh, and His name is Jesus. He never forced his agenda on anyone. He simply led by example. Where are our leaders of this Great Faith today? I pray it not be that we coward down to the principalities and powers of this world, but we simply kneel down before the ONE who says, “That at the Name of Jesus, …….every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!”(Philippians 2: 10-11)
Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas!
