THE CHURCH IN THE MILLENNIAL AGE
In this age, than in no other before,
Have a people, piously religious,
Professed a faith, godless, and all the more,
Christless, in numbers, multitudinous,
Like bees. Effete, carnal throngs, who besiege
God's throne, but return with lean blessedness;
Souls, who prolif'rate the church in this age,
Who, while having a form of godliness,
Deny God's pow'r: for though, 'Lord, Lord', they call,
Christ's words they don't obey. Being doubly
Dead, these fruitless trees, from winter to fall,
Never can depart from iniquity.
Spots they are and portend doom with odium,
Though now their ways are sweet as the opium.
