Yes, salvation is free by the grace of God, and the resurrection of His Son who died for us. What about discipleship?
Luke 9:62KJV No man having put his hand to the plough, and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.
His is the formula that Jesus gave us for plowing a straight furrow. To plow a straight furrow, one must fix their eyes on some landmark, and never look back, but keep the eyes fixed upon the landmark. If this is not done, the furrow will be very crooked, and not at all appealing to the farmers next door.
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith!”
We have a” landmark” in Jesus Christ. Our eyes must be focused upon Him, for our lives to show others our Savior. Yes, salvation is a free gift of God’s unending grace, but discipleship means sacrifice at times. God’s Word gives us many examples of what a disciple must face.
It may mean sacrifice-Matt. 8:l9-22
It may man suffering-Matt. 10:24, 25
It may mean separation-Luke 9:61
It may mean bearing a cross-Luke 14:27
We must never look back when we have started our journey. If we look at others instead of focusing on Jesus, our own paths will be crooked. Let’s not look to see who is following. To win the race, we must run straight!
Let’s run the race set before us
With our eyes upon the “Goal”
We’ll find it will be worthwhile, and
Will bring blessing to our soul! V.M.
Song: It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus.
Earths trials will seem so small, when we see Christ!
One glimpse of His dear face
All sorrow will erase.
So bravely run the race
‘Till we see Christ!
Prayer: Dear Lord, when we make the decision to follow you, show us day by day, how to train our lives so that we may be disciples, worthy of Your great love for us. Help us to be the kind of example that you would have us be. Help us to show Your love to others, and follow all of the patterns that You have laid out for us in Your Word. Help us to never fail You. In Jesus name, Amen

Verna ! Good piece and good challenge. Salvation is free (to us) but look what it cost our Lord - in our love shouldn't we be willing to give all of us to Him? Marijo
