There was a father who had sons born unto him. The Father loved all his sons and since their early childhood taught them all the precepts of right & wrong, good and evil. He taught them to respect, love and honor, and how to be good strong men.
As the boys grew older some of them took different paths,,,,,some good, some not so good. They became men and formed their own concepts of what was right in life and how to live, some good,,,,,some not so good.
One son ventured totally away from all his father;s teachings and went down a path of lawlessness and evil behavior. The father, sorrowful and in love sought him out and warned him that his lifestyle was leading to death and destruction.
He warned his son that no good could ever come of his lifestyle. He told him that it was a false lifestyle full of glit and glamour, fame and fortune, full of deceit and there was no truth in it. He told his son that the only way to be truly happy was to come back to the preccepts that he had taught him as a child.
The son soundly rejected his father’s warnings and the behavior continued for many years till at one point the son realized that all he had done was ruin all those years of his life and grieved those around him who loved him dearly.
One night, the son finally humbled himself to his father, repented and came back to his father’s heart and teachings. He instantly found favor with his father and that all along his father only had his best interest in mind. There was feasting and great exaltation of joy that night on a magnitude that can only be described as heavenly and holy..
Peace and restoration was restored again and that son lived out the rest of his days in harmony with his father.
How is it that I know these things you ask?
It is because I lived it, for you see I was that wayward son.
I bowed my knees in repentance and cam back home to my Father the night of January 2, 1970.
It is my prayer that we parents will also know this harmony and restoration with our children, for nothing I can think of could be greater than that.
