Kids say the darndest things. I loved that old television show that was hosted by Art Linkletter. Kids really do say some "off-the-wall" things at times. Take, for instance, my son.
When my son was young, he asked me the darndest question I had ever been asked. He said, "Dad. Were there dinosaurs when you were little?"
I admit, at the time he asked this question, I was not that old. Now I am, and I probably wouldn't blink an eye if he were to ask me that today. But, back then, I was offended and amused at the same time. It really was a funny question.
I laughed, and said, "Yes, there were, but only in my mind. They didn't exist outside of what I could imagine."
"Oh," he said.
Then he wanted to know what imagine meant, which I was more than eager to explain. With some kids, you have to be careful when you answer their question. It could lead to more. We had a good time talking that day, but in the end, I was tired of answering one darn question after another.
