My son was born weighing a shade less than eleven pounds. By the time he was aged 3 or 4 he was just about the tallest, strongest boy in his age group. Then someone bought him a superman outfit.
The outfit was a replica, complete with an “S” on the front and a flowing cape on the back. He put the outfit on, and arms outstretched ran around the house, eventually running full speed into a solid brick wall. At that very instant one of Newton’s laws of motion sprang to life, lifting my son clean off his feet and throwing him backwards about 20cm. He landed flat on his back.
To my great relief he jumped to his feet, unhurt. In amazement he looked at the wall and exclaimed, “It didn’t move!” At that precise moment, my son’s belief that the costume endowed “superhuman powers” to the wearer was smashed forever. He was no longer “invincible”.
In the corporate world we have seen groups of people come to believe they possess “superhuman powers”, clothed in the “rightness” of their cause.
Believing themselves to be invincible and unconquerable, they have overlooked the inherent weaknesses, the human faults and human failings, the corruption, which exist within the system. This has resulted in financial scandals, business failures, and financial and economic “meltdown”. The economies of some of the most powerful nations on earth have been jeopardized by the delusion of grandeur.
The same kind of beliefs and behaviours, the “rightness” of the cause, and the covering over of faults and flaws, has also lead to catastrophic consequences for government systems and military powers.
Now, the clock is ticking for the church “system” and her delusions of grandeur.
It is only a matter of time before the church system’s appearance of “rightness” is removed to expose her faults and flaws existing within. And these failures go down into the very foundations. God will show the church system up for what she really is, “A cracked wall that has been whitewashed”.
The fatal flaw of any system is glossing over the Truth.
