Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
We left when we were very young
To become one of the few
Who would fight for our great nation
Defending the red white and blue
We mastered everything we learned
So that we could be real proud
When we accepted the call to duty
We stood out among the crowd
Whether on the ground or in the air
There is a bond that we all share
We have made a commitment to our career
Or given our time as a volunteer
We have left our homes and families and stuff
Chosen a life we knew would be rough
We have learned that our blood is thicker than water
We will fight to the death for a son or a daughter
We fight for a land that is worth fighting for
Sacrificed riches to live like we’re poor
It is just as hard now as it always has been
But if necessary we would do it all over again
