My Horse

Since the first day your eyes met the two of you have been buddies. You are there for your buddy and in return your buddy shows you love. You watch as your friend, your pal, plays and runs.
Some say it is just a horse but you say and know in your heart that it is more than just a horse. This horse is your pal and an answered prayer from God.
You spend as much time as you can with your pal, your buddy. And as you see your horse you call a friend grow and mature, your heart is filled with joy. You always make sure your gift from God, your pal, has everything needed to survive such as feed and water and other items that are a necessity. And once again you receive love and the knowing of being blessed.
Now seeing how you are human there are times when you are away, but the understanding of this is there in both involved. The understanding that no matter how long you are away love will always be there. There may be times when you are away for a whole day or more but when you return, oh the greeting you will receive.
And when there is a storm you make sure everything is ok and you may at one time or another sleep out in the barn with your buddy. Now some may say this is strange but you know this is love. You do not neglect others but there is a bond between you and your horse. Yes you may have more than one but for some reason this one touches you greatly.
. And then one day the unthinkable happens, your buddy has a problem and no one knows exactly what. The vet has checked and gave the medicine but nothing seems to be working. You pray and worry and pray some more. You go and talk to your horse and even though your buddy does not speak you see in your horse’s eyes the knowing. As time goes on your buddy’s condition gets worse and you get more upset. The vet comes and once again checks everything and tells you all you can do is wait. Your mind goes into overdrive and your heart sinks and you cry not knowing when your horse may pass on.
Yes, you know all will be well when the day comes, but for now you ache all over. You continue to talk to your pal and love your sweet horse. You start to wonder if you could ever love something or someone so much ever again. You also continue to pray and believe and know this is in God’s hands and even though it may hurt, you finally agree to accept the outcome.
Then one night you feel this may be it so you go out to the barn to spend the night with your buddy. As you are lying there as close as you can to your buddy you hear the breathing of your horse possibly for one last night. You pray and ask God to please heal your pretty horse.
You think back on the day of your horse’s birth and how tiny and precious your buddy was. How those little legs wobbled as your horse stood and began to walk. And the cute little noises made when communicating with you. And as you lay there listening to the breathing and remembering you think on many days you just sat and watched your horse play. You feel the love as you remember the smiles you were blessed with daily.
You notice your eyes getting heavy and fight to stay awake. The next thing you know you wake up and it is the next day. You listen and then get upset because you went to sleep, but you do remember the peaceful dreams you had. As you lay there afraid to move you notice you do not hear anything. No breathing no walking nothing. You lay there and wonder if your buddy went peacefully. You cry because you wanted to be awake when the last breath was taken.
Then you hear a still small voice saying “turn around and stand.” You lay there thinking oh please dear God I am not sure I can handle this right now. Then you hear “Stand and look, what you will see is peace.” Now you start to picture your horse lying there motionless and think yea, looks peaceful. Then you ask God to forgive you and you turn. And it is what you do not see that gets you so you slowly stand and then you see. You stand there for a minute or two taking this in and then you begin to walk. As you are walking you start to cry uncontrollably as you reach out and to wrap your arms around your healthy, beautiful horse yes, your buddy.
You say thank you God for healing my friend and thank you for the outpouring of your love dear Lord. And thank you dear Lord for
My Horse.
