Key Verse: “Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith” - I Thess. 3:10
Paul shows an expression of thanks to the Thessalonica church for their fidelity in the gospel. He made mention of them continually in his prayers; that he remembered their faith, and love, and patience, for by these things they had shown that they were among the elect of God. As Christians, we should express our appreciation and support to our fellow servants for their faith, love and patience by remembering them in prayer.
He reminds them of the manner in which they received the gospel when it was first preached to them. The power of God had been manifested among them in a remarkable manner; they had embraced the gospel with strong assurance, and though in the midst of deep afflictions, they had received the word with joy.
We should encourage our fellow servants to remembe and stand firm on the gospel. To beware of false teachings. To continue in their love for Christ in spirit and truth.
The church in Thessalonica had become examples to all that believed. From them the gospel had been sounded abroad throughout Greece, and indeed in all places with which they had connection by their commercial relations. Those who dwelt in distant places bore witness to the influence of the gospel on them, and to the power of that religion which had turned them from idols to serve the living God. - Let us be examples to our fellow servants bearing the fruits of the spirit. The life we live bears witness to the influence of the gospel.
