All of those who call upon The NAME of The LORD shall be saved, Joel 2:32. Scripture teaches that GOD’S ULTIMATE GOAL in history IS to rescue people from the curse of sin, death, Satan, and hell. The Old Testament (OT) depicts GOD as delivering HIS Chosen People from Egyptian slavery, from Babylonian captivity, and from oppression at the hands of various Palestinian tribes. To Christians those deliverance’s foreshadow the coming of JESUS CHRIST as SUPREME DELIVERER.
The basic OT concept of deliverer is expressed in a Hebrew word for “next to kin”. A close relative was responsible to aid an individual in distress and to redeem him or her from slavery. GOD sent deliverance when HIS People were in danger (in OT) and now in The New Testament GOD HIMSELF ACTED AS DELIVERER. GOD SHALL DELIVER you from:
Harm (Psalm 121:7-8); fear (John 6:20-21); temptation (chapters 10 & 13 of 1 Corinthians); the law(its’ rules & regulations), guilt & condemnation(Romans 7:6);Trouble (John 14:1-3); filthy behavior (2 Peter 2:7-9); the power of darkness (Colossians 1:12-13); the most sever trials & circumstances (Romans 8:35-37 & 2Timothy 3:10-11); Satan’s power (Hebrews 2:14-15); sin and its dominating power (Romans 6:14-15); and The WRATH to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
HOW?
1. By listening to the message of deliverance,
Luke 4:18
2. By admitting your sins, John 4:16-18;8:1-11;
and 16:8-11
3. By prayer, Matthew 6:13 and 2 Thessalonians
3:1-2
4. By GOD, Luke 18:6-7; 2 Corinthians 1:10;
Colossians 1:12-13; 2 Timothy 4:18; and 2
Peter 2:7.
Prayer: HEAVENLY FATHER, I come to YOU in The NAME of JESUS CHRIST to ask for the forgiveness of my sins (openly admit them to HIM) as well as my unknown sins. I’m also repenting for not putting YOU first in all things. LORD, I want the real thing because I’m tired of living a life of half-truths, so come and take first place in my heart, mind and will by filling me with YOUR HOLY SPIRIT and by faith I receive the things ask for. Thank YOU. Amen.
