Then, He commanded
the multitudes
to sit down
on the grass.
And
He took
the five loaves
and the
two fish,
and looking up
to heaven,
He blessed
and broke...
the loaves.

(Peter holds out
the baskets, which he
finds on the grass:
they're filled with little glass
bottles.)
"What's THIS,
Lord?"
[SMILE!]
"Just pass them out
to the crowd,
Peter."
"Certainly,
Lord......
but, what
IS it?"
[CHUCKLING SOFTLY.]
"It's,
hm....
something,
that goes very
well,
with fish."
(Stares down at all
the little bottles.)
"But...
what IS it,
Lord?"
[SMILE!]
"It's a type
of seasoning;
it's very tasty."
(Sets baskets down.)
(Pulls out one of the bottles.)
(Turns it upside down.)
(Squints, with impatience.)
"I don't UNDERSTAND?
What does one....
DO with it,
Lord?"
[SMILES!]
[TAKES THE BOTTLE
FROM PETER'S HAND.]
"Here,
Peter."
[TWISTS THE CAP OFF.]
(There's a slight POPPING
sound.)
(Peter nods,
and laughs.)
"AH!
I SEE!
AH!
YES!
THANK YOU,
LORD!"
[CHUCKLE!]
[PATIENT NOD.]
"You're
very welcome,
Peter."
(Picks up the baskets,
again.)
(Motions to the other
disciples.)
"Here:
BROTHERS!
TAKE THESE!
PASS THEM OUT!"
[SMILE!]
(Dip a finger into
one of the open bottles.)
(Puts it to his tongue.)
(Nods, appreciatively.)
"What is this,
CALLED,
Lord?"
[SMILING AT THE CROWD.]
[NODDING, JOYFULLY.]
"It's called...
tartar sauce."
"Tarssssssssis."
(Impatient grimmace!)
"I can't SAY it,
LORD!"
[LOVING SMILE.]
"That's alright,
My child.
It's a different
language."
(Squint curiously.)
(Whisper.)
"This isn't from
those people,
of the land....
from where...
the SUN SETS,
IS it?"
[NOD, SMILING!]
(Thoughtful pause.)
"They make such good
food, Lord."
(Sad shake of the head.)
"It's a shame......
they waste all that
oil....
pouring it into the
front of their chariots."
[BURST OUT LAUGHING!]

Now those
who had eaten
were about
five thousand men,
besides
women
and children.
