The world is filled with many who face great challenge. Now more than ever, we struggle. We face worries which are bigger than we can handle, and often feel alone, as we move ahead in our lives.
I often write about joy in knowing the Lord, and pray others will feel the peace of a loving God, who gives strength to those who feel weary and hopeless.
Last week, I received a lesson in perseverance. I watched a tiny ant, trying to climb out of a small amount of water which had pooled in my yard. I was amazed at the strength of this tiny pest, who also carried a piece of food on his back.
I knew the ant would drown if he stayed in the water, but he kept on trying, struggling, until he eventually climbed to safety. As he stepped on dry ground, another ant took his load, and the tired worker was able to breathe in what he needed to survive.
I can learn a lot from ants, as I consider the human heart of those who feel hopeless, and look for opportunities to cope with difficult situations. I talk with people everyday who seem to be treading water, unable to swim through their feelings of worry and despair. They long for someone to share their burdens, and give them hope to keep moving ahead…
God knows our hearts, and He knows our thoughts. He reminds us we do not have to struggle alone. He reaches out to rescue us from troubled waters, and breathes new life to sustain us, as He leads us to a higher ground.
God helps us find a place of peace, when we are ready to accept His will for our lives, and believe He can lead us to find rest. If we allow Him to take our burdens, He can help us surrender those things we cannot handle alone.
God can sustain us, and remind us there is hope, when we are willing to preserve and trust in Him. Our attitudes can move from hopeless to hopeful, when we faithfully understand we can do ALL THINGS through Christ who gives us strength…
God is near,
Scripture: I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for lessons we learn as we live in the world you created. You know our hearts. You help us find strength, when we need to reach out and hold onto you. God, we need to feel your peace…When feelings of hopelessness enter our minds, replace our thoughts with hope in you. Rescue us when troubled waters quickly fill our lives with doubt and worry. Lead us to the place where we will be able to breathe in all you will provide to sustain us. Help us remember you have plans for our future. Help us learn to trust in you, and feel your strength. Amen
