This was a poem I wrote a few years ago. I changed it up a bit and added a chorus for a song.
My Eyes Were Opened
The deepest emotion I never before knew
Was the day I saw my sin
He opened my eyes
Exposed all the lies
Then Jesus poured such sweet joy within
A glimpse in the night of my restless sleep
Told the sad story all along
Tossing and turning
My soul was burning
For the wounds to be healed with His song
Chorus
My eyes were opened!
My heart was cleansed!
When I met Jesus....
The Holy Lamb!
Drawn by His Spirit...
Wooed with His love
My eyes were opened...
By the great...I Am!
Visually impaired to the Truth of God
I was blind, but now I see
Joy took its place
By His amazing grace
And my lost soul has been finally set free!
I’m now surrounded by love flowing like rivers
Always sufficient is His grace
His mercy endures
My soul, it secures
Till the wondrous day when...I’ll see His face…
