If time was in a glass bottle you held in your hand
Would you dash it to pieces or throw it on the sand
Quietly rocking in a old chair on the front porch
Seeing in your mind the light of the old torch
The flame of life shines brightly in the dark
The silence interrupted by the call of the lark
Time keeps on slowly slipping and sliding away
There is nothing you can do but make it day by day
Feelings of peace and contentment are blessings indeed
The good Lord cares for you and knows your every need
The future may be uncertain and full of surprises
So each day enjoy the beautiful sunsets and sunrises
