MEDIC! I've been hit! I confess with much shame that I'm reporting after the devastation of an attack. Worst part is, I have to take the blame. Most of the week I've gone walking around without wearing my armor. One of my short comings is I allow myself to set a priority on the "busy" things of the day and over look the preparation (reading the GI Field Manual and prayer).
In order for this incident to not be a waste let my lay out some of the enemies movements during the week. Tuesday, I went into Wal-Mart. The bank inside the store, near the front door, has a plasma TV. I look to see a picture of a beautiful woman from a reality TV show (that's from what was at the bottom of the screen) with a headline regarding some mishap. Then on the screen is the TV tabloid news agency that's reporting this. The enemy, whom I will identify as curiosity (a.k.a. seduction), whispers in my ear, "You could just look that up on the internet to find out more." I'm not sure, but I even think I heard it giggle.
Well, that tells us one thing. The enemy uses curiosity to lure me to a trap.
Like the combination punch of a championship boxer (I date myself, I guess now it's a UFC contender) at night, when I'm by myself, this thought roles through my mind, "I wonder if I can find any clips from Grand Theft Auto video games?" Now, this should have made me run. I'm not a gamer, so why should I care. There is only one reason for that kind of thought, and I should have just run – like the scripture says.
Now, that's the second thing. I must have a greater sense of urgency, focus, and alertness to the enemy's methods and movements.
Just a second. Let me take a look around and see if there are any intruders or scouts. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask for a complete covering of protection from the enemy. Make it so the enemy cannot see what I'm doing. Father, we have set this house aside for You and Your glory. For it to be a place where Your Holy Spirit can dwell. Thank you, Father for Your grace and mercy.
Okay, It's clear. Well, I don't expect any action tonight; but I think the enemy has been uncovered some – it's a start.
I'm going to try keeping a running "Notebook" of sorts in each episode. If, strike that, when this gets to large I'll turn it into an index at the back of the book.
The enemy – by name:
curiosity (a.k.a. seduction) as identified in the GI Field Manual – 1Timothy 4:1,2
M.O. Whispers suggestion that may or may not tap in directly to my weakness
Often patient and may start working long before the battle occurs
M.A. (My Actions): I must develop a sense of urgency about this and treat it like chemical warfare. Run. Run to the Word of God.
Until next time; keep your armor on. I'm signing off – At The Front.
