Bow down
Your ear,
O lord,
hear me;
For I am poor
and needy.
[Psalms 86:1]
******************
"I picture Ya
signing all these papers,
while I'm talkin' to
You, Lord."
[SMILE!]
"What papers are
those,
My child?"
(Shrug.)
"I dunno."
(Shrug.)
"Ya know: all those
important PAPERS!"
[CHUCKLE.]
"Ah."
[LOVING GAZE.]
"No, My beloved."
(Squint up at the ceiling.)
"Why NOT?"
(Squint thoughtfully.)
"I picture some harried
angel, with reading glasses
falling down her nose,
holding out a big stack 'a
PAPERS for You to SIGN!"
[BURST OUT LAUGHING!]
"Don't You have
a lotta' PAPERS
to SIGN:
like the PRESIDENT?"
[WIPING TEARS OF
LAUGHTER.]
"No,
My beloved!"
(Thoughtful squint.)
"Oh........
I guess, You have
a secretary*, then....
huh."
[CHUCKLING.]
"When I get to
Heaven, Lord,
can I be Your
SECRETARY?"
"We'll see,
precious.
We'll
see."
*******************
For a day
in Your courts
is better than
a thousand.
I would rather be
a doorkeeper
in the house
of my God
Than dwell
in the tents
of wickedness.
[Psalms 84:10]
