Spiritual Warfare Spiritually
XVII Spiritual Things Spiritually
by Bill Hunt
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor 10:4-5 KJ).
"Any true disciple of Jesus will eventually find he must confront evil face to face," evangelists teach.
“Demonic activity is waged in the world against mankind using both overt and covert means.
“Fight spiritual things spiritually!”
To our house of prayer came this young woman, we'll call her Michal. She talked to Mary with an extremely tremulous voice every time she visited.
One day, she talked at length on the phone with Mary. I prayed in support while my wife ministered to her. I anticipated in my heart what Mary was going to say.
"Will you go with me to her home and pray deliverance for Michal?" she asked. Of course, my wife knew I would.
Michal and her husband owned volumes of witchcraft books. The couple was now overcome by demonic activity as a result. Michal told Mary about strange things that occurred in the house.
Prayer is the Holy Spirit's fire extinguisher against the attack of "smoking" demons.
Whenever you encounter evil, wherever the devil manifests himself in society, use the weapon of strong prayer. Don't serenade with songs or recite weak formulas. Christians do not resort readily enough to authoritative prayer.
Can you imagine a veteran charismatic priest psychologist and a younger charismatic Christian minister praying together for people in a healing service? Bob McDougall and I laid hands on people in a packed city church. One woman seemed to sneak her way forward in the line. As we spoke deliverance to her in the anointing, she screamed out and dropped to the floor. Christians continued to pray with her and raised her to her feet, a free woman, filled with a new joy.
Mary and I prepared for ministry to Michal through fasting and prayer.
A very spooky setting confronted us as we drove in along the dirt road to keep our appointment. I noticed old paint peeling off the outside walls of the two-story house. The building was set against the backdrop of a dark, steep, pine tree-covered slope. The setting was amazingly Gothic. To all spiritual sensitivity, the devil had indeed taken residence in the white house.
"The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work" (1 John 3:8 NIV).
God's word is decisive. The conflict with the presence of evil in the world is so evident, it is difficult even for the unbeliever to deny. Just watch the news! There's no greater evidence of his evil activity than to watch the evening television news reports.
“I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you” (Luke 10:18-19 NIV). Jesus said that.
The reason the devil does not take more advantage to overtly manifest himself, is this materialistic society so easily accepts his many covert activities of deceit and deception. With this, he effectively influences the spread of his evil dominion.
As we entered the house, we felt the presence of demons. The place seemed haunted with them. But Michal, herself, expressed eager desire for ministry. Mary led her in prayers of repentance from sin and renunciation of witchcraft. We commanded the demons to leave her.
The minister must resolve in such prayer to show absolutely no fear, to give a decisive command in the power of the Holy Spirit. We must know who God is, and who we are.
“Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4 KJ).
Michal gave a long scream and dropped to the floor. While she remained limp on the floor, Mary and I quickly prayed through the house, downstairs and upstairs, anointing each room with oil. The spiritual feeling in the building changed.
As we returned to the kitchen, we helped Michal back to her feet and found her demur transformed. We prayed for her to receive salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
She was now laughing and happy.
"I thank you for what you did for Michal," said her pastor a few days later. "She's a different person!"
Mary and I delighted to hear Michal sharing with others how God set her free.

WOW! To quote a Hal Lindsey book title, "Satin is alive and well. . . " I sooooo believe that he is ruling this world right now and has so many fooled. To bring a sister out of Satan's boundage is awesome and I rejoice with you for her deliverance. I really like the truth you so boldly tell. Most would not. May God bless you for sharing your amazing stories. Debby
