Just a few things to say 'bout gettin' older.
No tryin' to show how you can fit in the crowd.
Not having to dress as the other kids.
We can be who we are, no puttin' on the fritz.
Now that we are older and set in our ways
We can be true to ourselves no tryin' to impress.
Free to make friends with the unpopular crowd.
Friends we can truly enjoy and even be proud.
It makes no difference who was voted best,
We have all chosen and made our own way
And at this point no one really cares.
Whether it be for good or bad on that we fare.
Just a few draw backs though now we face
Our skin now not so taut it seems to sag a bit
Our hair has turned gray or maybe none at all
But who really cares it is only nature's call.
We have shrunk an inch or two in height,
Our now mature stature is not so grandiose.
It's ok we made it up by adding to the middle,
But who dares to comment on that we twiddle.
It seems much smaller print is used now days.
People now whisper are they talking 'bout me?
I'm sure a pound now is much heavier too.
I can't remember what I was suppose to do.
Outward appearances at times are a drag,
You see on the inside I'm the same old me.
No time to quibble over the age old fanfare
No need to impress I'm just glad I'm still here.
