Here we sit in the cupboard of life,
You’re broken vessels marked by strife,
Each one of us has a different flaw,
Yet when You looked, it was beauty You saw.
Some bear the mark of abandonment,
That ugly gouge is fearful resentment,
See that crack, it’s the wound of sexual abuse,
How can these vessels be of any earthly use?
Oh, You my Lord, see purpose and intent,
You see there’s life, these vessels aren’t spent,
Oh, You my Lord know the true equity
Of the pottery, mended and molded by Thee.
Oh, Lord thank you for loving us in this way,
For walking beside me, each and every day.
For without You~I have no where to turn,
This, the greatest lesson, that I can learn.
When no one else believes, that I can
Be of some value, in Your infinite plan,
I need only find a quiet tranquil place,
Where I can meditate and seek Your face.
If man should discard me, I need not despair,
For I know You love me and how much you care.
For when I was ugly, broken and marred,
You gently whispered, “I, too have been scarred”.
