Not a subject I'm used to writing about
But one that I've been forced to witness
Someone during the dark hours
Cut 2 rows of okra
From one of my family member's garden
Which has a chain link fence
Around the entire yard
Was it hunger, or just to aggrave?
For someone to scale the fence
I would think...hunger
If they had asked
She would have given it to them
Even though she's struggling
To feed her own kids
She would have shared
Others in this area are going
To church food banks
These are decent hard working people
Who would gladly rather work
Than to have to do this
But...recession is real, jobs have been lost
I know some families
Where both spouses have been laid off
And families swap different food with each other
Surely God is providing for these people
But...it must be hard not to be able to buy food
For your own children...times are hard
Even in the south where many folks
Plant gardens every year anyway
But you can't plant the basics
Which are nonedible...but necessary for life
Paper and cleaning products needed
For a healthy environment
May we all continue to pray
For self to be able to help self
Yet we all are thankful to our Lord for providing
For He promised us that He would
Even when we can work and provide
It is still our Lord
Who makes it possible
Either way...there are hungry people in the USA
And every bite we eat...we can
Rest assured that
God is providing for not only His children
But also for everyone suffering hunger.
Thank you God
For food sharing, and blessing the USA.
