Does money determine what you can do or are you determining what money can do for you? If money is limiting you by what you can or cannot do, then you are serving money and money is your master. However, if you are positioning money to work for you, then you are mastering money and money is your obedient servant.
God has given us power, authority and dominion over money. He desires for us to use what He has freely given by grace. God says in Deuteronomy 8:18 to remember that He has given you power to get wealth so He can establish His covenant. Since you already have the power to get wealth why not use it for its original purpose - to establish God's covenant here on Earth.
When God gives us power He wants us to release it for His glory. What God puts in us He wants us to share with others. If God has given you the gift to write then freely share that gift. We never earn a free gift from God. We do however receive it by faith. It is our responsiblity to share our gifts to make a difference in the lives of others.
We have also been given the responsiblity to be good and faithful stewards over what God has given to us. Why do some people choose to take responsibility for the money they have received, while others just foolishly waste it? I believe we need to realize everything belongs to God and that includes money. When we have a stewardship mindset our decisions and actions reflect that belief.
Money is to be mastered by us. God did not give us money to rule over us. A faithful steward manages God's money the way He wants it to be managed. We can choose to manage money God's way or the world's way. One way has an eternal purpose and the other is temporal.
When was the last time you gave money an assignment? In other words, when did you purposely have money go to work for you to grow and multiply? Maybe you invest money wisely. You might have started a business. Possibly you freely gave God's money to someone in need. If you did, then money is working for you right now. Do you view money as an obedient servant? Do you see yourself as a master over it? When you have a Godly perspective of yourself and money, then you will act on what you believe.
Have you made the decision yet to be a master over money? Have you told it what to do for you? One reason God has given us money is help build the Kingdom of God. Are you helping God build His Kingdom with the money He has entrusted unto you? Today you can make the decision to be a master over money and never let money rule you again. Money is waiting to serve you.
