You may as well learn to "fight the good fight of faith". There may be times when you find yourself in the heat of battle. Suddenly the enemy is challenging the faith you knew that allowed you to "walk on water". While trying to figure out what has gone wrong, how did you get there, you must fight to keep from sinking.
You're in the heat of a spiritual battle. But your weapons are far more powerful, more superior than the forces you are battling against. How do you fight an enemy you can't even see? With a two-edged sword. The Lord our God does not leave us defenseless. The Holy word of God is your weapon. So you must know it, you must meditate upon it and you must speak it; Just as Jesus did when tempted in the wilderness.
A good soldier requires weapons and full armor. God's words of weapon and armor are found in Ephesians 6:13-17 "... and having done all to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith .... the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Praise is indeed a powerful weapon against the enemy's attacks. The Lord said we are to, “Rejoice in the midst of tribulation.” Its more difficult to do it then, but also more important to do it then. I found Praise especially effective in cases of depression related issues. Depression is like a dark cloud but Praises to God allows the sun (SON) to again shine through and nurture you.
Initially it may seem difficult, but when you begin to see its powerful effect, you realize that you are impacting your situation. Allow me to give you my personal description. Praise hastens the presence of the Holy Spirit that quickens us from within, providing a force field of protection around us. "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord."
The Lord is worthy to be Praised. So Praise is not something you just enlist when you find yourself bound. Once it sets you free from your bondage or circumstances, it should become a daily lifestyle that will draw you closer to the Lord and keep calamity at bay.
Another word about Praise; don't be so naive as to think that you can enter into the Lord's presence without first showing him reverence. "Enter into His presence with Praise and thanksgiving." Spend time just worshipping Him who is worthy to be Praised. Praise Him throughout your day coming in and going out. But particularly before you enter into prayer. If you haven't been doing this, get ready for a shock!
When in the heat of battle you must do all these things regimentally, lest you or someone you love may risk becoming a casualty of sickness, disease, addictions or even death. By whatever means your life is being challenged is not the problem, but the warning sign that you must either engage in the battle or lose it.
When in the heat of battle, war has been declared and normal rules of civility do not apply where the enemy is concerned, he wants your life. So get over the shock of this reality. Be willing to fight or be willing to die. It’s more effective to fight in two's or more. "One sets a thousand to flight, but two sets ten thousand to flight." The more the merrier. Enlist someone in the prayer of agreement.
If you want to live a good healthy life, began to do what every good soldier must do to survive when in the heat of battle. Be disciplined to study and know your weapon inside and out. Keep the faith, "The Lord is your rearward." Fast for clarity of mind, direction, strength and wisdom. "Be wise as serpents." "Pray without ceasing." And enlist the speaking of tongues if you have that gift.
God’s rules of civility still apply. We must still, "Love our enemy." The application of God’s word is a weapon within itself. Remember, Ephesians 6:12 "We wrestle not again flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." We must not sink to a level of fighting in the flesh. And most of all we must not sink to a level of fear and intimidation!
You need not be a victim of life's trials. Pick up your weapon and fight, target the strongholds that you know have held you and those you love in bondage. Prepare your defense by locating as many passages as you can, applicable to your circumstances and what you are feeling. Keep those passages near you and add to them daily. Then use them verbally to attack in the spirit where the real battle rages. Commit as many to memory as you can.
You must remember your position and fight daily when in the heat of battle. Know the word of God, meditate upon His word, speak His word. This is your weapon coupled with Praise to win not just the battle but the war and keep the enemy at bay and trembling. So as soldiers of the Lord God Almighty let's collectively wear the enemy out! It is not a time for fear but righteous indignation.
Remember the Lord said in Jeremiah 30:16-17 "Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, everyone of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. 17) For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; ..."
I agree with your article, especially not resorting to fleshly type warfare, as you mentioned. I would like to add that "praise" is also key. It has been key for me, in my spiritual walk. Great article!
