Walk not in a cloud
Of a burdensome land
Turn ye your backs
On that dark shadowy land
Who would choose to walk
In the land of shadowy dread
When they could walk in the light
Of Him that rose from the dead?
Walk with pure faces
Toward heaven’s pure light
Leave all of the shadows
Of Egypt behind
Walk not in mere senses
To eat, drink and be merry
What about the poor
The hungry and thirsty?
We must walk with eyes
That can see with love’s vision
And must never allow senses
Becloud our true mission
Shadows behind, be shadows
Not fallen, useless branches
Follow God to his loved ones
And shun Egypt’s burden
Walked two in Bible’s Egypt
Moses was one, Joseph the other
Moses led God’s children home
Joseph fed God’s children corn
They were but walking shadows
Of a far more superior light
They pointed us straight to Jesus
The way the truth and life
In the light of God’s Son
Walk towards each day
Since it is that glorious light
That keeps sin’s shadows at bay
