Save Me From Myself

My name is Sunshine because you always see me smiling.

You see my hair all whipped, my stylish clothes, and the smell of my fragrant perfume, but what you do not see is my pain.

Underneath all this facade of beauty, I cry inwardly a silent lament.

My pain is deep, dwelling within a calloused heart of wounds, surrounded by a wall of hurt and false security.

You see me standing before you, exhorting you with great words of wisdom and encouragement, but little do you know; I speak those words not only to you but to myself. Yes, you say, “she’s a great motivator”, however, the woman inside is crying out saying, “Lord save me from myself!”

I talk to Him, because He listens, after all He has known me before I even knew myself, He knew my steps before I took my first, He knew the ones that would trip me up, yet He allowed them, knowing that I would only gain strength.

You see beauty outward, I feel pain inwardly.

Lord, save me from myself.

Never judge a book by its cover, don't just stop at the table of contents, instead, read each page, and examine each chapter with an open mind. Allow the writer to captivate you, because within each page, line upon line, precept upon precept, you are taking an intimate journey into the author’s life.

Welcome to my world!

Sometimes those of us who are gifted in the arts are misrepresented and misunderstood, we are deemed as extraordinary or peculiar, in which we are as prophets and living epistles of God, He has made us that way. We are emotional yet we think outside the box, we are a walking fantasy but the journey that we make and the paths that we take are all predestined by God.

How true...thank GOD He looks on the inside, and loves us despite what He sees. Congrats on being picked as a "jewel". Lisa J.

I loved your article and I can also relate to your pain. You have captured the heart of pain many of us have. I thank you for your words and for the pain and tears you have carried and shed for God and those He loves. Laurie M. Gagne

Very powerful writing - and such an important message. I love the book analogy, especially as far as you took it (with reading every page). Super.
