It was a wintry, gray day as I looked out my window. Its clear glass usually gave me quite a majestic view of God’s green earth, but this time what I was seeing was more like, God’s gray earth. The green leaves were now gone and the branches now bare; the grass lay lifeless as well. It seemed like all color had just faded away; it was blacks and whites blended into gray.
But then a little reminder appeared on the scene; one of God’s vibrant, red cardinals. It gave the scene a burst of life. It was skipping among the wintry branches, unaffected by the lack of color all around. It was singing happy songs to its Creator. This wise little bird had faith that its heavenly Father had loving eyes on its every step, and provision had already been made for each and every one of its daily needs.
Then I thought, when the circumstances in my life look gray, do I neglect to see the colors of hope? When things don’t look like I think they should, that's when I must remember to let God’s Words paint a brighter picture for me.
Jeremiah 17:7 “But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. (NIV)
