I discovered there was something wrong with the car and it needed to be looked at as soon as possible. Knowing that we didn't have any money to pay for any repairs, I asked God to look favourably on our finances and grant us a miracle. To provide us with some money in a supernatural way, so that we could get the car fixed. I knew we had to trust God with this - He knew we needed it done and He knows our financial situation.
Even though we didn't have the money, we went ahead and stepped out in faith and got the car repaired, trusting that God would somehow provide the funds. The mechanic graciously gave us a week to come up with the money and we agreed a date for payment to be made.
Again and again, I prayed for a supernatural gift to come through the letterbox to pay for the repairs. We just needed to look beyond our own resources and trust God to supply our needs.
I really believed God would provide for us and that the key to God's blessing was walking in obedience and holiness to Him.
God had been reminding me for some time to put Him first in all things. What He is looking for is obedience and holiness, setting aside time to be with Him and His Word. God's blessing will then rain down on us and He will provide all our needs.
God made a covenant with the Israelites; as long as they walked in obedience He would go before them and bless them. This covenant also applies to us today. That's His promise. He is Jehovah Jireh - 'the lord will provide'.
Just after I had been praying again, holding on to His promises, an anonymous Cheque turned up in the post to cover the cost of the repairs. God is so amazing and we were blown away with this miracle.
I noticed the cheque was made out two weeks before I got it. This meant it was prepared before we even took the car to be looked at. No one could have possibly known about our car trouble. That is just amazing. God had made provision well in advance, but why was it not posted off then?
I believe God purposely held back that cheque. He planned it that way. He was testing us and stretching our faith. Faith is about believing in something you can't see and trusting that it will be there. If the money had turned up in advance there would be no need for faith.
After being on a high, I soon came back to earth when I learnt that the bank would take five days to clear the cheque.
Again I believe God done this purposely. He knew that without His intervention it would not clear on time. He was saying, 'Do you trust me. I am not a God of half measures. I didn't get you this far just to fall at the last hurdle'.
Even now He was still stretching our faith, as we had to have the faith to believe it would be clear in time to pay the bill.
The next day I spoke to the bank and we had a long discussion about clearing the cheque. I explained that I needed it the next day to pay a bill. They wouldn't budge and told me there was no way they would release it until Monday at the earliest.
I knew I had to trust the Lord, and to remember that God was a higher authority than the people at the bank. My God would release it to me. God knows it is due tomorrow, so he will make it available.
The next day arrived and sure enough the money was cleared in my account and I was able to pay the bill on time.
Thank You Father that you are a God of the impossible and, as long as we walk in step with You; you promise to always meet our needs and bless us.
Believe in the impossible and live a life in the supernatural.
As we walk in obedience and holiness He will pour out blessings and favour over us.
