I went to the store to give the shelves a look
I was looking for Bibles in the section marked books
They were on the bottom shelve so I had to get to my knees
When I heard a mans voice say
“That’s what it takes to read one of these”.
I turned up to look and saw a man
Standing in a classy brown suit.
With white hair & a beard
And a fedora hat and brown cowboy boots.
With a smile on his face and bright blue eyes
He held out his hand, much to my surprise.
He pulled me to my feet
With gentleness and ease.
Then pointed at The Bibles
“Are you gonna get one of these?”
I said, “I’d like to but I don’t know which book?”
He just stood and stared at me with a questioning look
I said,
“There are so many different kinds, but which one is true?”
“Its very confusing I don’t know what to do?”
As he looked at me a smile grew on his face.
“They are all the same meal it’s just a matter of taste”.
“We may all sit at the same table and have a meal that tastes nice”
“But there are going to be some that will add some spice”.
“Just remember what you ingest is the meal that we savoir”
“Some may just give it a different flavor”.
“It’s the same with those Bibles”
“The words may be a little different in each book”.
“The point is:”
“What the Holy Spirit fills you with”
“As you read and look”.
“And here is a little secret just from me to you”
“To help you understand the words”
“In this book as you read it through”.
“Just go to your knees and start to pray”
“And ask GOD for guidance so your mind won’t stray”.
As I turned back to look at the shelves near the floor
Then I turned back to thank the stranger
But he wasn’t there anymore.
I got up to look for him and ran toward the door
But I didn’t see him anywhere in that store.
I went outside to look for him then
It started to rain once again.
I headed for my truck with my coat over my head
Remembering every word that the stranger said.
I opened up the truck door and couldn’t believe my eyes
There was a bag on my seat much to my surprise.
I carefully opened it and gave a quick look
There in the bag was a brown book
This was really odd cause I didn’t buy this book
I pulled it out of the bag, and gave it a closer look.
It was a King James Bible and the cover was brown
But how did it get in my locked truck?
This Book I just found.
Not only was it brown
But it was the same color of the strangers suit!
I held it up to the light
There could be no dispute.
With that I noticed that the rains had stopped
And there was now bright sunlight
“What’s going on here, this can’t be right”?
I got real scared I felt real sick
Even the spit in my mouth got real thick.
I don’t understand what’s going on
Deep inside I did know.
This book was gift as the sun hit it with a bright glow
And was that stranger some type of Angel for me to meet
Come on Angel’s don’t wear cowboys boots on their feet.
But here is this Bible its real right in my hand
But how did it get here? I still don’t understand.
It had a ribbon to mark a page, its color was red
So I opened to the page and here’s what it said.
(Acts 12:8) And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. (12:9.And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. (12:10. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. (12:11. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
I had to rub my eyes and give another look, but here it was.
My new brown Bible book.
And what was written is what I read.
Still to this day it gives a spin to my head…
And if you don’t believe me, or your head did shook.
Just ask to see. My good ole’ brown book…
