The Day My Friend Marty Died.
It has been many years since my friend died and Jesus embraced her in heaven. Her story is sad but enlightened me that there is in fact a heaven and we all have souls.
When I first meet Marty I lived in Laguna Niguel California and she was a greeter in Target in my neighborhood. She was friendly and a lovely lady and soon we became friends. I also meet through Marty my friend Angela who worked with her in target. We would all get together when I visited the store either for lunch or talked on their breaks.
Then after a few years of knowing Marty I knew that her health was not good. When she was in the store she was holding on to the cart for dear life as if she was unstable. I was very worried about her that day. It happened to be around Thanksgiving time and she told me that she wanted to give me my Christmas present then. It seems funny to me and then I realize she must have known she might not be here on Christmas.
She was estranged from her daughter and I asked her to join us at our Thanksgiving table but she declined.
A few days later she did not show up for work and I had a strange feeling that something was wrong. I spoke to my friend Angela about this and told her to check up on her. Since they both lived fairly close to each other. She did in fact check up on her and found her lying on the bed with her dog howling because she had a heart attack. Angela called an ambulance and told me what had happened.
We both loved her dearly and wanted to visit her in intensive care in the hospital. We knew that was not possible and my friend suggested we say we are her granddaughters so we can visit her.
Then we were questioned by the nurses and we told them that we lied to see her. He daughter worked at the hospital and we talked to her and she allowed us to visit her mother. A day or so later Marty was awake and I spoke to her daughter to make amends because she may not be here to long. She did and I was thankful for that.
Every night Angela and I would take turns going to the hospital to visit Marty. We would either be there together or alone and hold her hand and talk to her.
We asked the nurses to please call us if she was on the brink of no return. Then I received a phone call telling me that she was not doing well. I then called my friend when I arrived at the hospital.
We both held her hand and talked to her. Through this ordeal her daughter decided to go to her husband 50th birthday party and not spend her moms last moments on earth with her.
While Angela and I were holding her hand an attendant came in with food. I asked Marty if she wanted some not thinking but realizing how can she eat. Then they took the food away.
I did not want to believe that she was dying. We were sitting vigil with her for many hours and then decided to go to the hospital cafeteria for some food. I will never forget the frightened look on her face when we told her we will be back. We ate as fast as we could and returned to spend more time with her. I am crying now as if it were today. We held her hands and then all of a sudden there was a wind right above us. Then I started saying the Hail Mary as this force continued then in a matter of moments she was gone. My friend said she is gone, I said no, no she is not dead. I know that we both felt her soul leaving her body and rising to heaven. It was such an enlightening experience.
Before she died we told her it was ok to go. I think that she was waiting for her daughter to visit her but she did not. We knew that she wasn’t and told her it was ok to go now Marty.
We loved her so much. She was like another mother to the two of us as well as a friend.
This experience in my life made me realize that there is another world. A world that has no pain and we will be happy in and live forever.
