Just One Word

Father please fix me for I am broken.
I need a message from you, but no words are spoken.

Others hear your words why can’t I?
Is it because of the plank that’s in my eye?

Just three words would set me free.
Just tell me what you want me to be?

I need to hear the words come straight from you.
Then I will know what you want me to do.

Still I listen for you, your voice so sweet.
But all I hear is my own heartbeat.

Why so much silence? What have I done that was so wrong?
Do I not praise you with words, and in song?

When all is quite and its dark all around.
I listen for your voice but not a single sound.

The only one I hear is the one in my head.
That calls out to you before I go to bed.

If silence is golden then I live in Fort Knox.
Please let me hear you so I can stop this paradox.
