Rides from Airport

Hi all. Since I live in the Detroit area and will be checking into the hotel on Thursday with my roommie I would like to offer my services.

I am planning on renting a vehicle for the weekend since my husband and I share 1 car. So I will be able to pick up and drop off air travelers over the weekend. If I have enough takers I will look into renting a minivan or larger and perhaps we can share the cost of a van rental.

My flight arrives at DTW on Friday morning at 5:30am (I can hang around the airport until a decent time, though....so you don't have to jump out and get me then!) and then my Sunday flight leaves at 7pm. And for sure I can chip in with the car/van rental and gas. Yay! I am so excited to meet you!

YAYYYY!! ME too.

My inlaws always give me $$ for my birthday, so this last week I was able to set the entire conference and part of my hotel aside. In fact, I have the money order ready to mail(YAYYY!!!)

So far, I have on Thurs. Eve. 1 rider and on Fri. morning 2 riders.

Any more? I'll get times together and more details as time gets closer, so that your arrival will be as organized as possible.

I'll be sure to keep the cost as low as possible (won't rent anything larger than needed). I want your visit to my hometown to be a blessing.

My flight is booked, and my registration is ready to be mailed! All I need to do now is book my room with the Radisson, and I will be good to go! Looks like I'm going to get to go to the conference after all! Yay!

I will arrive in Detroit at 3:25 p.m. on the 7th, and my flight departs at 4:05 p.m. on the 9th. Would those times work for you, Karlene? If so, I would be happy to pitch in for gas/rental. I can also wait around the airport if need be if you have to pick me up later/drop me off earlier in order to fit the other traveler's needs.

That'll be great Josh. I've gotten you written in my planner for those days.

I'll begin working out a transportation schedule as we get closer to the conference. By then I'll have a better idea who is wanting/needing a ride.

BTW, I will also need to know which airline you'll be traveling with. Metro has had a huge expansion, so if you are with Northwest, it's in an entirely different teminal than the others. Very Happy

I'd love a ride!! Don't know when yet, and probably won't for 100% sure until the plane is in the air. I fly standby (a Delta perk) and I can pick out a flight but there are no guarantees unless there's an unsold or unused seat for me. I'll give you my best guess when time gets closer. Pencil me in for sometime Friday. Very Happy

(We've actually been on the plane, bags stowed and seatbelts buckled, and had to get off when a last-minute traveler showed up for his seat. But, hey, it's free.)

Oh, wait, I need to check if Delta even flies into Detroit. Shocked

YES it does! Ten flights a day, all day long. Should be a piece of cake getting a seat (she says in faith).

I am arriving Friday at 11:45 am on Southwest Airlines.

I will be departing on Sunday at 6:15 pm, also on Southwest.

I have no problem waiting around the airport after my arrival on Friday or before my departure on Sunday. I'd love to see the "light and music" tunnel I've hard about, and that's in a completely different terminal... Though, now that I think about it, I may not be able to do that due to security. BUT if I can get from one terminal to the other without going through security twice, I'd love to see the tunnel thing. lol

Guess I never thought about it being "cool" as it kind of creeps me out- it's dark and since I travel alone, I tend to kind of hurry through it. I'm a bit security conscious (comes from working in prison too long) so I have a different perspective. But: I'm glad you get to come- hope to meet you.
