Week 7 Topic - FACEPALM

Postby Deb Porter » Fri May 16, 2014 12:10 am

Hey there, Challengeers. We are powering through this Evolution of Language quarter. Topic 7 already. That means you have just four more chances to be in the running for the End of Quarter awards AND the Best of the Best awards for 2014.

Right now, though, you may have acted out this week's topic when you saw what it was. Some of you were probably thinking, "What???" But never fear, Challengeers. It's actually not hard at all.

So for those who haven't seen the new topic yet, here it is:

FACEPALM

Clarify the topic here: http://bit.ly/1dz4khH

Basically, though, it’s that “d’oh!” or "oh!" moment. It is quite simply what the word describes: a gesture where the hand is brought up to the face because of exasperation, embarrassment or dismay.

As always, you don’t need to use the word "facepalm" in your entry. However, you do need to show the meaning through your story/poem/article. It needs to be the focus of your entry.

Let your creativity flow and enjoy yourself. That really is the most important thing. Feel free to experiment with your writing. Try new things. That's one of the best things about the Challenge, being able to do something different. Don't stress over it (no actual facepalms while you are writing, okay?). Relax and just have fun.

Enjoy the creativity process and feel free to chat about the topic here.

Love, Deb

Can facepalming be an expression of despair? Especially double facepalming.

Absolutely. If you would lift a hand to your face in despair, then that would work. Just make it obvious.

I'm feeling like it's WAY too late for me to get inspired now :( But this topic should give us lots of fun stories!
